Woman arrested for drink driving after lamp-post demolished in Doncaster smash

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following a Doncaster crash which saw a BMW snap a lamp-post in two.

Emergency services were called to Brecks Lane in Kirk Sandall on Sunday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 1.37pm last Sunday (16 June) following reports of a collision in the Kirk Sandall area of Doncaster.

“It is reported that a white BMW was involved in a collision with a lamp-post in Brecks Lane.

“A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while above the legal limit for alcohol.

“She has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

Video footage from the scene shows the rear windscreen of the vehicle smashed – apparently by the top half of the lamp standard, which was snapped in two in the crash – with the front of the vehicle also sustaining damage in the smash near to the junction with Queen Mary Crescent.
